Shopping carts frustrate many online buyers and would-be buyers. Include these five elements and you’ll go a long ways towards eliminating their frustration.
1. Shipping Charges. A major complaint of online shoppers is how difficult it can be to get the answer to the question, “How much is this really going to cost?” Make sure your shipping charges are easy to find, both from within your shopping cart and from the rest of your web site.
2. Phone Number. If customers have questions, make it easy for them to get answers. Include your phone number and contact information on every page of the shopping cart.
3. Links to Your Site. Don’t make your shopping cart a one-way street. Make it easy for customers to get back into your site to doublecheck on something or add more items.
4. Guarantee. You’d never print an order form without a guarantee, would you? The shopping cart is no different. When you’re asking for payment, reassure your customer with a prominent guarantee.
5. Privacy Policy. Online shoppers are rightfully concerned about how their email addresses will be used. State your privacy policy clearly to maximize online sales.
